When Family Chooses you

Ten years have passed since Georgette left home to build a new life in Brooklyn.  When her estranged younger brother arrives unexpectedly, secrets are unearthed.  As feelings of abandonment and betrayal seep in, they must choose to cope or run.  



Georgette Severaux: Female.  28.  Bi-racial/African-American.  Wild haired woman with a flare for crimes of passion.  Proud.  Realistic.  Driven and focused.  Eldest child of Rachel.  Older sister of Asher. 

Asher Severaux: Male.  18.  Bi-racial/African-American.  Georgette's younger brother. Earnest young man on the cusp of his own life.  Honest.  Cunning.  Naïve.  Hopeful.  

Maggie Johnson: Female.  Late 20's.  Caucasian.  Georgette's girlfriend.  Free spirit who is down to earth and optimistic. She is a fixer and a planner.  

Clark Samuels: Male.  Late 20's.  Caucasian.  Georgette and Maggie's neighbor and friend.  Artist.  Truthful.  Cool in every sense of the word.  Grew up with New England money but then moved to East Williamsburg before getting a grip and calling it Bushwick.  Independent.  Smart.  

Alex Sims:  Male.  Early 30's.  Any ethnicity.  Boy next door who happened to grow up in the city. A bro with feelings.  

Rachel Severaux:  Female.  Late 40's/Early 50's.  African-American.  Georgette and Asher's estranged mother.  Strong.  Faithful.  A conservative matriarch who has lost the family she once lead.  

Kristina King: Georgette

Kristina is thrilled to make her Fringe debut in THE MARKS YOU LEAVE.  A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, she was last seen in the First National Tour of Nice Work if You Can Get It.  Other favorite credits include: HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL, WEST SIDE STORY, HAIR, FAIR FIGHT, GOD HATES THIS SHOW, PRAYERS FOR THE GHETTO and PYGMALIONShe would like to thank Mia and Teresa for trusting her with this beautiful piece and Tyler for helping her find vulnerability through his passionate and inspiring wordsShe dedicates this to her Mom, Dad, and Jason.  Thank you for always making me feel like I am "good enough."

Rebecca Teran is an award winning performance artist, Pacific Northwest native, and food & flower container-garden enthusiast. She has originated roles in new works including Erica, CARNIES: THE MUSICAL (Action/Adventure Theater); Colleen, FIND ME BESIDE YOU (ManyHats Collaborations); Kate, RIPPER THE MUSICAL (Broadway Rose Theater); Hester Prynne, SCARLET (MerryGoRound Playhouse/The Pitch, NYMF); and played Neil De Grasse Tyson in the reading of MOLLY MURPHY AND NEIL DE GRASSE TYSON ON OUR LAST DAY ON EARTH (Playwrights Horizon). She is currently in production for THE WATERMAN: A CASCADIAN MYTH (ARS NOVA/ANT FEST) and she will return to the Broadway Rose Theater this fall, to play the role of Miriam, in FLY BY NIGHT. Rebecca earned her BFA in Music Theater from Shenadoah Conservatory.


Daniel Rowan*: CLARK

Daniel is honored to make his Fringe Festival debut playing a character a part of the queer community. His most recent work as screenwriter for the short film Rodeo Clown, directed by critically acclaimed Opera and film director, Kevin Newbury, will be filmed in Summer of 2017.  Off-Broadway: The Fantasticks (Matt). Recent Regional credits include: Creep: The Story of Jack The Ripper (Christian, WaterTower Theatre), Les Miserables (Enjolras, Casa Mañana), Miss Saigon (Chris, Casa Mañana), Rodger's & Hammerstein's Cinderella (Prince, Casa Mañana), Sweeney Todd, starring Norm Lewis (Anthony, Casa Mañana), and My Fair Lady (Freddy, Lyric).

Rosemarie Mitchell*: Rachel

Rosemarie Mitchell is thrilled to be working with the cast of THE MARKS YOU LEAVE. Rosemarie has worked inseveral celebrated productions including the Obie Award winning MAMBA’S DAUGHTERS which was also featured at the Spoleto festival. Other credits include THE BALCONY and FOR COLORED GIRLS… (Off Broadway).  THE SENTENCING LETTER (awarding winning Independent feature film) and LAW & ORDER (television).



As an actor, Tyler has originated roles in the World Premieres productions of SMALL STEPS, as X-Ray, with Oregon Children's Theatre; and BOOMCRACKLEFLY by Charise Castro Smith at Miracle Theatre.  New York: OJ Simpson in BALLOON BOY (NYMF), THE VOW (Contemporary Music Theatre), ALL THE HEAT (Tiny Rhino).  Regional Theatre:  Papa Ge in ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, Angel in RENT, and Prince Charming in CINDERELLA.  THE MARKS YOU LEAVE is Tyler's playwriting debut!  Although, he wrote a pretty killer musical based on the music of Ben Folds in high school.  Third Rail Repertory Mentorship Program.  MMC.

Mia Crivello is an actor and director based in Brooklyn, NY. A Montana native, Mia graduated from Point Park University with a degree in Theatre and a minor in Dance. What began as an interest in storytelling has ripened into a life's work for Mia. Her career in the theatre has grown into an exploration of expression through a variety of mediums, all of which continue to inform her work. In April, Mia finished her first short film, HARTWOOD, which she wrote and directed. Mia is incredibly proud to be bringing THE MARKS YOU LEAVE to life at the New York Fringe Festival this summer. 



Teresa Yslas Beardsley is an actor/writer/producer transplant from the San Gabriel Mountains in Southern California.  In 2013, she graduated from the University of La Verne with a BA in Theatre Arts, cum laude, and winning first place for the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Research in the Arts.  Her work in the arts deals with people and stories that are marginalized by conventional standards.  Her motivation in all her work is about uplifting the spirits and enriching the experiences of others.  As a Manhattan based actor/collaborator she has worked with: CROSSROADS THEATRE CO, ANAGRAM, URBAN STAGES, FAB WOMEN THEATRE CO, MIND THE ART ENTERTAINMENT, ZOIGE PRODUCTIONS, RED SHARK PRODUCTIONS, and MORE THAN MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT. She is teeming with excitement in presenting to the world THE MARKS YOU LEAVE.
